Why choose Family Day Care?

Family Day Care is an approved form of child care that is provided in the family day care educators own home. Family day care educators are early childhood education and care professionals, who engage in the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and work within the requirements of the National Quality Framework. Educators are registered with a family day care service that is responsible for approving, supporting, training and advising its educators.

  • Children get to form a close relationship with the same consistent educator everyday

  • Small group setting- only four preschoolers in care allowing plenty of one on one care and attention to each child's individual needs

  • Children to work closely and actively together in a small group where they develop strong friendships; confident self identities; resilience

  • Siblings can be cared for together, all in one location

  • A comfortable, safe and more familiar home based learning environment

  • Individualised learning programs for the children

  • Excursions within the community such as the library, parks, and playgroup sessions

  • Families work in partnership with educators to ensure children’s cultural background, interests and strengths are celebrated, shared and enhanced

  • Greater flexibility with hours of care such as evenings, before/after school, during school holidays and in some cases overnight and weekends

How is family day care monitored for quality?

Family daycare is approved under the Education and Care Services National Law act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National regulations 2011.

Amy is registered with Cheeky Pandas Family daycare scheme. The Scheme is responsible for recruiting, training and providing ongoing support to the educators and ensuring the educator meets all the legal and safety requirements of providing the service. They make regular visits to the family day care visits to monitor the children’s progress and to provide support.

Early Years Learning Framework

The Early Years Learning Framework is an early childhood curriculum framework, which will guide educators in developing quality on education programmes. The framework describes the principles, practice and outcomes to support and enhance young children's learning from birth to five years, as well as their transition to school. This will help ensure consistency in the delivery of learning programmes around Australia.

The Framework also has a strong emphasis on play-based learning as play is the best vehicle for young children’s learning providing the most appropriate stimulus for brain development.
